Stock universe is ENORMOUS.

We have penny socks, OTC stocks, emerging market stocks, REITs, ETFs, ADRs, highly volatile stocks, illiquid stocks and much more. All these are good for different types of strategies and personality. Of course it would be much easier to trade only 1 or 2 markets, like index futures. The problem here is, that if you are a swing trader waiting for an opportunity it might take you quite sometime while you’ll get one. You don’t have this problem with stocks, as you have more instruments to chose from.
